what makes us tick

On the Horizon

This Fall, EarthSpark International Co-Director Dan Schnitzer will be living in Haiti for two months. The purpose of Dan’s stay is to develop relationships and study successful projects all around the country. The gold stars on the map below indicate the locations of EarthSpark's present projects.

He will be traveling to Deschappelles, to visit the Albert Schweitzer hospital; Terrier Rouge, to visit a successful biodiesel pilot called Jatropha Pepinye; and Cap Haitien, to visit the offices of the Appropriate Infrastructure and Development Group (AIDG) and Sustainable Organic Integrated Livelihoods (SOIL). Dan will also be visiting projects that have been funded by Quick Impact Project grants given by the UN stabilization mission in Haiti, MINUSTAH.

We intend to reproduce our pilot Clean Energy Store and tree nursery in as many as four communities in 2010. This trip will allow us to build relationships, identify strong implementing partners, and carry out baseline assessments – all vital steps in developing future projects.
